4. Training Objectives
Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:
Articulate the value of systemic thinking relative to fundraising and the role of everyone, especially governing bodies – the Board of Directors, in planning, execution, monitoring and evaluation of annual and capital campaigns.
Understand how to establish, grow, and sustain balanced bottom-up and top-down involvement for the successful pursuit of grant and proposal management goals.
Understand how to transform your nonprofit organization with competitive grant and proposal writing using project management.
5. Training Description
This training is a hands-on approach to grant and proposal management/writing designed to enable and enhance systems thinking in nonprofit organizations (NPOs) no matter the industry or geographic location. Students are guided through the grant writing process predisposed for success from the standpoint of being an organizational champion or intrapreneur. This training will translate theoretical agile and project management skills applicable to nonprofits into practice with turnkey methods and techniques that will help to bust siloes and help working members of nonprofit Board of Directors, staff, and other categories of volunteers demonstrably work more efficiently and effectively within programs/functions and organizations. The tools and techniques shared can be immediately implemented in every grant pursuit. Real-life examples of failures and successes (lessons learned and case studies) will be covered to highlight the learning process. This training is offered live with dynamic and engaging class participation to provide opportunities for participants to practice what they learn.

Capital Campaigns as Agile Projects – Planning
- Translating project steps into annual contributions,
- Choosing and modifying project tools for fundraising and grant management,
- Lessons learned and evidence-based best practices.
Systems Thinking, Successful Grant Writing Pursuits
- Managing expectations, recording assumptions and constraints, setting goals and objectives for impact, responsiveness and sustainable responsibility,
- Managing and Engaging stakeholders (internal and external) with appropriate tools like RASCI, techniques like peer-to-peer engagement, and procedures.
